Government, Economics, Video Communication, Yearbook ... and Golf
Hello, I am in my 23rd year at East Jackson High School, starting here in 1994. I graduated from Jackson High School in 1981, earned an Associates Degree from Jackson Community College, and a Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University with a major in Journalism. After working as a journalist for several years at the Sturgis Journal (MI), and Jackson Citizen Patriot, I spent one year as a technical writer at Aeroquip. In 1994, I completed work on a Teaching Certificate at Spring Arbor College finishing with majors in Social Science and English. I have a Masters Degree from Marygrove College.
At East Jackson High School, I have taught: 10th grade English, Speech, Newspaper, Yearbook, 9th grade English, US History, Government, Economics, Video Communications, Study Skills, Practical Reading and Writing. I have coached boys golf since 1996 and girls golf since 2007.
My wife, Pam, is a counselor at Jackson High School. We have an 19-year-old daughter, and 22-year-old son. Our daughter is studying Social Work at Michigan State University, and our son is a computer science engineer in Atlanta, Georgia after graduating from MSU in 2016. Also at home is Miggy, our fluffy, little white doggie named for the Tigers' Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera.
I love working with kids in the classroom, and on the golf course. Introducing students to Shakespeare, our nation's government, and the benefits of a good shoulder turn on the links makes my job extremely satisfying.
Please contact me if you have questions about my classroom, or the East Jackson golf programs.
